About - Life Takes Practice
Life Takes Practice is a community for mindful, resilient, inclusive living. It is a space for people who want to live and lead with greater presence, capacity, and care in the midst of complexity. Rather than focusing on fixing or optimizing ourselves, Life Takes Practice centers the understanding that being human is an ongoing practice shaped by attention, relationship, and experience.
The work here is grounded in mindfulness, nervous system awareness, expressive writing, and relational practices that support both individual and collective well-being. These practices are designed to be lived, not achieved, and to meet people where they are in real life.
Life Takes Practice offers programs, courses, and events for individuals, teams and organizations. Offerings support people in strengthening inner resources such as presence, emotional regulation, reflection, and compassion, while also building skills for connection, inclusion, and repair in relationship with others.
At the heart of the community are two core practices:
Pilgrimage Inside is a weekly group meditation practice that invites participants to slow down, listen inwardly, and cultivate steadiness and awareness over time. It emphasizes gentleness, consistency, and returning to oneself again and again.
Dear Ayana is a monthly expressive writing practice that offers a guided, reflective space for making sense of lived experience. Through writing, participants explore what they are carrying, what wants attention, and how to stay in relationship with themselves and others. The name reflects a core value of the community: And You Are Not Alone.
Life Takes Practice is for those who understand that growth does not happen through force or perfection, but through presence, repetition, and care. It is a place to practice being with what is here, together.

She is a facilitator, certified coach, conflict mediator, and mindfulness teacher, with over 25 years of experience across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She brings an integrative approach that attends to inner experience while also engaging the relational and systemic conditions that shape how people live and work together.
Stacy’s work is grounded in a commitment to equity, healing, and collective care. She is known for combining clarity and steadiness with warmth and depth, helping people slow down enough to sense what is actually happening and respond with greater choice. Her approach integrates mindfulness, somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, and expressive writing as practical supports for sustainable personal and cultural change.
She is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and supports individuals and groups in developing intercultural awareness and the capacity to navigate difference with greater humility, skill, and accountability. Her facilitation emphasizes psychological safety, relational repair, and shared responsibility, particularly in complex or high-impact environments.
Stacy has facilitated hundreds of mindfulness and reflective practice sessions and supports people navigating transition, aging, and healing through trauma-sensitive, neuroscience-informed approaches that make contemplative practices accessible and relevant to daily life.
She is also a partner at The Athena Group, where she supports a network of leadership and equity-focused coaches and collaborates on training and development work across sectors. At the heart of Stacy’s work is a simple orientation: meaningful change unfolds through presence, relationship, and practice.
